Proteomics Core Facility
The Proteomics Core Facility is located in room 0111/0109 of Biology-Psychology Building. The facility is equipped with a ThermoFinnigan LTQ Orbitrap XL mass spectrometer and a Shimadzu 2D NANO HPLC system. The facility also maintains an independent workstation dedicated for Mascot server, and 2 separate data stations dedicated for proteomics data processing, database searching, and generation of reports. Several popular software packages are installed on the data station, including Proteome Discoverer 1.1, Mascot Distiller, Scaffold Distiller, Sieve, and Prosight PC. For protein and peptide fractionation, the Facility maintains an Agilent 3100 offgel fractionator that performs isoelectric focusing based fractionation in solution.
The Proteomics Core Facility is a fee for service facility supported by the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences. The facility offers service to all researchers in the region, with priority given to users from the College. Routine service includes molecular weight determination of intact proteins by LCMS and protein identification through tryptic digestion, LCMSMS analysis and database searching. Protein samples can be submitted as lyophilized powders, solutions, or gel slices. Please refer to the How to prepare your samples (pdf) for detailed information.
The facility also welcomes collaborative research on projects beyond routine services. Please contact the facility director Dr. Yan Wang to initiate a collaborative research.
